17 Feet 1965 Century Resorter

Owning a wooden boat was on my "bucket list" since I was a child spending summers with my family on Payette Lake in Idaho. I liked the Resorter for the name, but also, it's utility. You could put a lot of people in the boat, and it worked great to water ski behind. I found "May Fly" on a boat sales lot in Spokane, WA. It had been stored in a shed, for years -- the result of a divorce, I was told. The wood was not in good shape but there were no missing pieces, and the engine had been overhauled a few years earlier. We ran tests and I found that to be true. The boat was sold new at Tobler Marina on Hayden Lake in North Idaho. It ended up after restoration seven docks away from its original delivery point. She's christened "May Fly" for my wife whose middle name is May. I have replaced the alternator, starter and a few other miscellaneous parts. Two coats of varnish and top rail varnish have been applied this off season. The boat was restored to original with the exception of a color change to the interior. We always intended this to be a user boat rather than a show piece. When the International Classic Wood Boat show was in Coeur d'Alene I entered "May Fly" and she received a Silver Award. The judging sheet with comments is available. Illness is forcing us to find her a new home. I hope the new owner of "May Fly" has the same fun as we have had with her and can enjoy the camaraderie of the wood boat community.

19.5 Feet 1962 Century Resorter

Looking to find a great home for this beautiful 1962 Resorter 19. In the care of SBCO for the last 5 years HISTORY: She was restored in 2002 by award winning restorer Matt Byrne in Illinois from a gray boat sitting in Iowa. He replaced 95% of the wood and stringers. New Interior. She is a traditional board and battan with 5200 on the seams. The engine was rebuilt is 2002. I bought her with approx. 150hrs. She has about 250 I am guessing. I bought her in 2018 and brought her to Lake Tahoe. She has been in the care of Sierra Boat Co since. She has the sliding top, rear ladder, folding sun lounger, spot light, all masts, custom trailer. I have done a lot to keep her in tip-top shape. In 2020 the Gray Marine 327 was removed and detailed. Wires and hoses replaced. Fuel Pump rebuilt. Gas tank removed and rebuilt and detailed as well as fuel/water separator installed. New prop shaft, prop, and shaft log installed with new cutlass bearing. Rudder & exhaust ports resealed. Transmission disassembled and serviced all new seals. New battery and fuse bus installed. Added hard to find Century Horse Head trim to hull. A couple pics are berfore trim added. There is a lot of other small stuff that Sierra Boat can provide records for. Winter of 2021 bottom was refastened and new bungs with fresh paint. Steering Wheel removed and sent to Quality Restorations and was REMOLDED as original. NOT REPAINTED. New chrome from Graves Plating on horn ring. NOS Lincoln medallion installed. This project was $3500 alone TRAILER: The trailer is a custom built (2002) trailer with single axel and electric brakes (These work perfectly). The trailer was re-powder coated about 7 years ago. It needs new bunk felt on one bunk. That’s all the good stuff. There are a couple of things that need attention. The tach stopped working. The other instruments all work but are a little faded. She probably has a year or two before she needs a re-varnish. She runs beautifully and solid. Has never let us down in 5 years of summer use. She is stored at Sierra Boat Co at Lake Tahoe. WHY SELLING? She is too small of a boat for Lake Tahoe. This lake gets too rough too quickly and all the wakesurf boats make it hard to use as much as we'd love to. .

20 Feet 1956 Century Coronado

Sold as a new boat at the Sierra Boat company at Lake Tahoe in 1956. This boat has spent its entire life on Lake Tahoe. Bought by the current owner from Sierra Boat in 1992. Original Chrysler Hemi. This 21 ‘ Century Coronado boat has been very reliable for me over the past 27 years. Has always been on Lake Tahoe. I’m reluctantly selling it to decrease my maintenance burden on a number of fronts. I took the boat down to bare wood in 2006 replacing the bungs and the top decks. At that time Also removed the interior vinyl over plywood panels and milled and installed new mahogany slats on the interior. The dashboard was also plywood with vinyl. I manufactured a new mahogany. In 2006, all of the upholstery was also redone. All of the chrome and instruments and chrome are original as far as I know. The boats bottom was fiberglassed professionally at some point before I bought it in 92. Other than 2006, the boat has been in the lake and buoyed every year I’ve had it. The last 15 years in Rubicon Bay. The gas gauge and clock have never worked since I’ve owned it. I use a dipstick and the clock glass has a crack. It has the original Tonneau roof. It has an automatic mid boat bilge pump and I added a manual bilge pump in the stern to pump when the bow is up and under way to lighten the load. In 2017, the original gas tank finally failed. I had a brand new custom tank manufactured and installed. (I believe either aluminum or stainless, over $1000). It has a 2 battery configuration with a switch dial for on/off/both. I have typically varnished every other year and serviced the engine on the odd years. It has a full canvas cover and is always covered when not in use and has always been garaged in the window. The photographs unfortunately don’t show it with a fresh coat of varnish but rather, the day I pulled it out of the water last fall after a full summer of use. I missed the varnishing this year having been too busy with other projects and traveling. The hull should probably be taken down to bare wood soon. I believe the Chrysler hemi is a 331. It has dual carburetors for high altitude, runs with a deep throaty roar and has never failed to start right up in 27 years. The trailer I got it with was scrapped several years ago and I had a new custom dual axle DHM trailer manufactured for it. I have based the price relative to this hagerty valuation.
