Learn how the process works (FAQ)
I purchased the boat in 2017 and took three years to restore it. My family has used the Viking to swim, fish and enjoy on the lower Niagara River. The model 620 Gray marine engine has been completely gone through with engine compression of 105/105/105/110 per cylinder. The fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, carburetor, generator, and starter were all rebuilt by Van Ness Engineering. The Viking was originally built with two hydraulic steering stations. It was converted to a single starboard-station cable controlled cable. All original hydraulic components are included with the sale. The cable system proved to be much more reliable than the hydraulic system. The boat itself has a new deck windshield, frame bulkhead and transom. Mahogany plank over white oak framing. Bottom is coated with West system epoxy. Some Century paperwork is included along with all restoration documentation. A dual-axle trailer with new lights, wiring, brake lines is included. Tires, wheel bearings, bearing buddies, paint and brake actuator is registered as homemade due to lack of registration when purchased with the boat. My 54 Viking is one of two wooden boats on the lower Niagara River so it is a real head turner. Unfortunately, my family's interests have gone in another direction and the sale of the boat is necessary.
