The vessel was delivered on May 2, 1955 to its first owner Robert E. Lee, she was named "Bettebob II" and registered at the Detroit Yacht Club. According to associated documentation she was owned by Ponta from 1969-1977, Tom Shankster 1977-1983. She was purchased by Mary Hempton from Patrick Dunlop in 2002. An extensive marine survey was conducted in April of 2009, finding "Sweet" is in near Bristol condition and is one of the finest examples of this model. She has won several awards, not the least of which was Contestants Choice at St Michaels in 2009. Considering she was not entered for competition that is an honor. Sweet was found to be in above average condition both structurally and mechanically. The donor file contains a wealth of service records and manuals. Deaccessioned from the Museum, all proceeds will go directly to support direct care of the collection.
