Miss Chief is an original 1935 Gar Wood Speedster that has never been restored. It is in good straight condition and is powered by a nicely detailed Chrysler Spitfire 6 cylinder engine. This boat was 1 of 5 original Speedsters sent to Edward Noble (Lifesaver Candy Co.) and Frederick Bourne of Singer Sewing Machine and Singer Castle for use in the 1000 Islands region of the St Lawrence River. Speedster racing became a regular event on the St. Lawrence until the start of World War II. This particular boat was delivered as a set of three identical boats and was for the use of A.D Thayer who was Frederick Bournse son in law.
