Its last major restoration was in 2015-16, including: 1) new transom; 2) 15 new steam-bent white oak ribs; 3) new forward white oak rub-rails; and 4) new mahogany marine plywood gunnel coverboards. The topsides were stripped, sanded, CPES sealed, and painted with two coats of two-part Epifanes polyurethane, the bottom received Pettit’s hard racing copper bronze, and the interior received two coasts of Sandusky Chris-Craft gray bilge paint. All interior brightwork was stripped, sanded, CPES sealed, and varnished with Interlux schooner marine varnish and the floorboards were stripped, CPES sealed, and covered with Nautolex Decko Dot flooring. The engine was completely and professionally rebuilt to burn unleaded gas (~$6000) and equipped with a PerTronix electronic distributor, new Holly 4-barrel electric choke carburetor, new 2 ½” ID water/exhaust hoses and new engine cooling hoses, new Holly electric fuel pump, line, and gas filter, and a resealed gas tank. All the boat’s electricals and wiring were replaced with new EzAcDc marine fuses, wiring, Blue Sea Systems starting isolation/dual sensing automatic charging relay, and restored engine gauges by Kocian Instruments. New Kidde fire extinguishers were installed along with a Xintex M-1 Fa fume detector. The original steering wheel was mounted on a new Teleflex Steering Helm and Cable. All hardware was re-chromed by Liorandi’s. Total cost of restoration not including labor >$20,000. Also included are a swimming ladder, custom-made bimini and boat cover, a Garmin Echomap CHIRP 42dv with a bronze thru-hull mounted transducer, and marine radio, chrome trumpet air horn, period-correct dash-controlled spotlight, and numerous spare parts.
