Naomi is a 1915 Hacker/Shoemaker gentleman's racer. Reported to be a John Hacker design and built by her original owner, Mr. Shoemaker, at Essex Shipyard on Lake Champlain, Naomi was used for racing, pleasure and smuggling from 1915 through World War II. There are records of her racing at Burlington, VT in 1916. The hull design foreshadows the famous John Hacker Miss APBA design of 1922. Naomi retains her original 1914 Van Blerck T-Head, 575 c.i. racing engine delivering 1400 RPM driving her at 32 MPH. Her original hardware and Hyde 18 X 28 propeller are still with the boat. Naomi has not been run since World War II and is in need of a total restoration. This is a rare opportunity to own a significant, early gentleman's racer with a known history.
