This is my 1954 Peterborough “Sportabout” 75th Anniversary cedar strip Deluxe model #1822 built in Peterborough, Ontario. All the hardware, steering and Airguide gauges are period correct. However, the Tach is not working at this time. All original chrome has been re-chromed. The rebuilt outboard is a 1955 Mercury MK 25 Hurricane 18hp with correct Mercury remote shift and throttle controls. Original engine paint color is “Sand Tan” and “Sunset Orange” (red). I have the previous owners restoration receipts for $21,000 CND plus my own costs for the mercury engine, restoration, remote controls, fuel system and many other needed parts. I purchased this boat in Canada and trailered it back to Virginia on the included Calkins trailer with no issues. Very nice trailer. It took 2 years to locate remaining needed parts for the engine, controls, decals, hardware, flags ect. The Hull was restored by “Woodwind Yachts”, a very well known and respected restorer of cedar strip boats in Canada who do beautiful work! This is 1of only 3 "Sportabouts" known to exist and the only one in ACBS. In 2018 the boat won ACBS award “Most Original Boat” at Smith Mountain Lake show. In 2019 I entered the large ACBS Chesapeake Bay show in Saint Michaels, Maryland. The boat not only won “Best Outboard” but also “Best in Show” preserved. It just doesn’t get any better than that! I have clear Virginia titles in my name for the boat and also the trailer.
