You are viewing a 1947 Chris Craft 22' Sportsman with a optional Ventilating Hardtop that has just gone through an 18 month restoration by Bentwood Boats of Illinois. These are rare models but this particular one has an interesting history as provided by the Mariners Museum. She was ordered by a Seattle Marina as a regular Sportsman with no top. Shortly before she was shipped the order was changed to add the hardtop. She was then outfitted with the new top and shipped to her new home. After the owners picked up the boat they found it somewhat underpowered, not realizing the extra weight the top added. The marina then removed her original M engine and installed a new 1946 200hp MS engine with a 1 1/2 to 1 reduction gear. This engine is very rare and is still running smoothly in this vessel. There are some telltale signs of her conversion by Chris Craft. All of them executed with skill. More pictures and information available.
