Ed Monk Sr pnw famous shipbuilder first built sailboat. Listed on Wikipedia. Oral history it patrolled the PNW during WW2 for Japanese subs as the first owner was coast guard. Been to Galápagos islands & Bering sea. I bought her from a local shipwright/coast guard veteran. Couple seconds on tv show battlefish, Front page news due to "interesting circumstances", true underdog. Is part of a local rv park mural-front & center. I love her, but have to let her find her next curator. Replaced all bulwarks, all chain plates, many paint jobs over years, replaced toilet with bronze & ceramic one, made resin bathroom counter with brass sink. Redesigned lazerette top, remade hatches, new sail covers in 2018, replaced bow spirit, replaced needed planks & properly corked as we learned from shipwright we purchased from. Added steps on to starboard side of rigging. Didn't finish repainting the rest of main mast. Haven't replaced radar, but have a replacement to be installed. Created a fold down map storage in pilot house. Has a raised floor now in galley for extra storage. Has extra sails. Added a mermaid figurehead (painted with boat paint) Made a storage chest that looks like a treasure chest. The main mast boot is an old barrel cut in half for a more pirate ship look. Tourists love this boat & children compare it to a pirate ship.
