1962 Thompson “Tom Boy” 16’ Wooden Classic Boat: This is a rare boat show model #477, serial #20919 with a 1960 Johnson 75HP outboard motor and a 1962 Gator trailer with power winch (1999) and spare tire. It comes with a canopy top and full canvas cover. It is 100% original (sides and bottom refinished), one-owner, never in salt water, stored full time indoors. Very good-excellant condition. This is a lapstrake hull design with a beam of 6’7”. It has a 2” by 41/2” solid oak keel with an oak 1” x 4” on each side to begin the laps. Each lap is screwed to the previous with brass screws every 2” apart on lower laps and 2 ½” toward the top laps. Trim and Deck is Mahogany. The boat features a curved glass windshield and is fitted with a custom convertible top. This boat was the first Thompson to use “Ride-guide” steering which is a single cable motor control. It has dual lever remote controls. The sides and bottom have been refinished. This boat was specially built by the Thompson Boat Co. as their 1962 show boat. It was used as a Christmas window display at the Kinn Marine in Oconomowoc, WI and at various area boat shows. It was purchased from Kinn Marine, April 1962 and stayed on Wisconsin lakes and rivers until the early 1990’s when it moved to Ocala, FL. At one time (in the 1990’s) it was part of the Sunnyland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and traveled to inland Florida freshwater events. It has never been in salt water.
