This Earl Barnes Streamliner is believed to be the only one of it's kind still in existence. It is also felt that this was the last boat built by Barnes prior to World War II, when he went to the United Kingdom for the English Division of Moffat an then returned to Canada with the outbreak of war to work for the Government designing small craft for the war effort. The boat was originally built for Carl Sauermann , who owned National Autobody in Hamilton, Ontario. Barnes widow recalls that he had the boat built in Hamilton using some employees who had been laid off form Greavette. The boat was started in the winter of 1936-1937 but not completed until 1939 and as originally named Carlann. At the time during those heady days the boat was the fastest boat on the water and nothing to touch it due to it's design with it's unique torpedo stern.
