The mahogany thoroughbreds of yesteryear were much admired for their elegance and beauty. But there was a price to pay- they were maintenance nightmares for the owner. Each year or so the old varnish had to be sanded off and new applied. Every Spring the plank bottoms had to “soak up” before the boat could be used. Finally their huge cast iron engines weighing 600 lbs could produce only 55HP with glutinous fuel consumption. Now comes a boat that provides the great beauty of the originals but without the maintenance requirement. There is no varnish. Each boat is finished with clear coat epoxy that requires no more care than your automobile finish. The bottom is a seamless epoxy/glass construction that will never move or leak. Propulsion comes from a modern 4 cylinder 3.0L that puts out 135HP with excellent economy. Finally, its 16’ length and folding tongue trailer will allow it to fit in most suburban garages with no need to rent a boat slip.
