Learn how the process works (FAQ)
We purchased ''Speakeasy'' in 2008 and moved her from Nantucket to the Hudson River north of New York City. My husband fondly remembered his grandfather's 1928 ELCO and searched for a similar cruiser, especially with an enclosed cabin since we had a toddler. We repowered ''Speakeasy'' in 2012 with two, new Yanmar diesel engines, had a new jury mast built and resurfaced both cabin tops with 2 layers of biaxial fiberglass cloth in epoxy resin. After seeing original brochures, we restored her back to original cabin layout to sleep 4 with plenty of storage below the cabin bunks. Original brass sinks, details and manual controls are all in place. We have enjoyed journeys north and south along the historic Hudson River for the past 12 years and she has won awards in the Antique Classic Boat Society Boat Shows in Kingston NY. (She's quite a beauty in the boat parade when she is all dressed with her flags.) My husband, a retired Navy Captain, passed away 9 months ago and had been an excellent steward of this boat. Each year "Speakeasy" went into the water for the season but currently has just been painted and is safely stored indoors.
