Greetings from Indiana... Everyone"s first question is usually why I am selling The Andrew J. We have had many great experiences together since her restoration was completed some 10 years ago. It's time for someone else who appreciates these fine Higgins boats to enjoy cruising and going to shows as my health and mobility as well as my work has not enabled us to travel with her and manage that lifestyle any more. She is stored inside on her custom made trailer but I will be losing this storage next year so I have to start selling my most treasured possesions. She is still in great condition and the last time I exhibited her for judging in 2018, she scored a 99.5 in the Preserved Category and won Best of Show Preserved. (ACBS International Show Racine, WI). She did not get her bottom wet in 2019 as life is speeding past and our direction has changed. She is a very rare boat and is the only 1948 26' Higgins Deluxe Sedan Cruiser that we know of. She was restored by Dan Nelson of Nelson Boatworks up near Lake Minnetonka, MN to the exact factory specifications. So how does a person conclude on how much to ask for her? With well over 100K invested it would be nice to find a buyer at that price but I am a realist so I have come to the decision of asking $69,500. She has a clean title and is ready for a sea trial. I pull her with my Ford F150 V6 Turbo on easy speeds of 65 mph down the interstate. She rides smooth and steady. To gain more context on her superb restoration and comments from others, I would suggest you start with this great Article about "The Andrew J" written by Texx from WoodyBoater. copy and paste to your browser... https://www.woodyboater.com/blog/2011/10/06/the-andrew-j-an-amazing-1948-higgins-barn-find/ For refernces on value, I would suggest to contact Dan Nelson of Nelson Boatworks, Paul Morris from Cedar Tree Boat Show, Jeff Funk, Scott Ramsey of Ramsey Bros. Restoration and any of the other ACBS officers who have judged The Andrew J in past years. I am confident they will consider my asking price an extremely good value. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Warm regards... Jeff (Pictures taken by WoodyBoater and Forrest Bryant)
