Simon Fletcher of Fletcher Boats Inc., in Port Angeles, Washington, designed “Champagne Taste” based on the lines of the SPEEDLINER built by General Marine of St. Joseph, Missouri. During his 30+ year career, Mr. Fletcher built over 60 boats. “Champagne Taste” is made from solid Honduras mahogany planks laminated over African multi-ply on Honduras frames, on white oak chines and keel. She is made with composite wood/epoxy construction with epoxy-fiberglass sheathing on bottom. All fastenings are stainless and silicon bronze was used with the polyurethane glues. Her brightwork was finished with over 12 coats of hand brushed Epifanes varnish. Powered by a closed cooled Volvo Penta 4.3 GXi and ZF Hurth transmission, she is capable of over 70km/h. Full Coast Guard compliance includes polyurethane foam floatation. “Champagne Taste” has been boathouse kept on Lake Muskoka for most of her life and was refinished in 2016.
